SANDY RIVER RENOVATION
This project is a renovation of an existing addition to a ranch house on the Sandy River. The project re-imagines the addition, which had been under-utilized by the previous owner, as a master suite with bedroom, walk-in closet, and full bathroom on the main floor with loft above to be used as an office and living space. Where as the existing addition allowed only limited views to the river, the renovation enlarges existing openings and creates new openings for windows and doors to access the outside both physically and visually.
On the interior, a new custom steel stair with solid douglas fir treads allows connects the main house floor height down to the addition’s main floor and up to the loft. A new door from the bedroom allows direct access to the exterior as well as views to the river. In the new bathroom, a wall mounted Duravit vanity cabinet and sink are located to a walk-in shower with flush shower drain. On the loft level, an existing window will be replaced with a door leading to a new elevated deck facing the back yard and river.
Throughout the addition, all exterior walls will be furred out to allow for a higher level of insulation. All existing inneficient windows will be replaced with high efficiency windows. The addition of new openings and enlargment of others will flood the previously dark space with light reducing the need for artificial lighting.
Construction is underway with completion expected Spring 2015.
